An aspect of my practice is that I make a lot of cardboard models. By letting this inform my making while working the metal the idea and object develop simultaneously, like an ongoing conversation. Both begin as a flat piece of material with the exact same dimensions, to be then cut and manipulated.

The Foldout series consists of repetitious patterns that fold out of a flat, basic parent shape, multiplying to become a more complex three-dimensional form. I find this technique very satisfying as there is almost no waste, and the possibilities are endless as each piece adopts a slightly different pattern or direction of fold.
