Katja Novakovic

Katja is a Naarm (Melbourne) based jewellery artist. She employs traditional jewellery and sculpture techniques to create a connection between wearer and object, which explores identity and memory. First training as an artist at Swinburne University, she later refined her skills in metal at Melbourne Polytechnic.

Katja takes the traditional signet and subverts it with the use of minimal geometric forms, crisp lines and volume, allowing the release of historical ties to gender and status, whilst retaining and amplifying the power jewellery gives to our identity and the memory it holds.
