Melanie Ihnen

Melanie studied Design at Newcastle TAFE, as well as Jewellery and Object at Enmore Design Centre. She has since developed her career as a maker, teacher, curator and gallery director. Melanie has exhibited for over 12 years and currently makes her handmade jewellery collections from her studio in the Sydney CBD.

Led by a childhood passion for jewellery and design; geometry, architecture and the subtle colour and tonal variations of metals influence her signature works. She employs the technique of metal inlay combining monel, silver and various gold alloys. Traditional precious metals and gemstones along with a range of non-traditional materials such as monel and porcelain provide a stimulus for developing new ideas.
